Where to find the Neopets Stock Market
http://neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml
It can also be located through the games room.
How do you find stocks?
This is a full list of all the stocks on Neopets:
http://neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml...list&full=true
You can also access this page by clicking "Buy" on the main Stock Market page and then clicking "Click to List" under Ticker Symbol.
Also, you can locate a specific stock by typing in its ticker symbol here:
http://neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml?type=list
This can also be accessed by clicking “Find Stocks” on the main Stock Market page.
This is how to interpret the chart:
Logo – The picture that represents the company.
Ticker – Ticker symbol. These letters represent the company name.
Company – Pretty self-explanatory, this is the name of the company.
Volume – The amount of shares that have been bought and sold so far in a day.
Open – The price per share that a particular stock had at the beginning of the day.
Curr – The current price per share of a particular stock. This price changes every 30 minutes.
Change – The percentage of the company’s loss or gain for the day. This can be positive, negative, or 0.
How do you buy stocks?
http://neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml?type=buy
You can also locate this page by clicking “Buy” on the main Stock Market page.
Type in the ticker symbol of the stock you want to buy and then the amount of shares you want.
Note: You can only buy stocks that are priced at at least 15np per share. You can only buy up to 1000 shares a day.
I would suggest that you buy 1000 shares a day. This can be quite expensive, but it is definitely worth it in the long run! If 1000 is not possible, try to buy at least 500.
Where can I find the stocks that I bought?
http://neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml?type=portfolio
This is called your portfolio. It can also be found by clicking “My Portfolio” on the main Stock Market page.
This is how your portfolio chart is interpreted:
Icon – The company’s logo.
Ticker – Ticker symbol of the company.
Today:
-Open - The price per share that the stock had at the beginning of the day.
-Current Price – Self-explanatory, the current price of your stock.
-Chg – The amount per share that your stock has gained or lost during the day.
Holdings:
-Qty – The amount of shares that you own of that stock.
-Paid – How much you paid for those shares.
Overall:
-Mkt Value – The current value of the shares you own.
-% Chg – Percentage of how much you have gained or lost from your shares.
How do you sell stocks?
On your portfolio page you should see a grey arrow to the left of the company’s icon. Click this arrow and it will bring up a new chart:
-Shares – How many shares you own from that company (in groups of 1000).
-Paid NP – How much you paid per share.
-Total NP – The total amount of np you spent on your shares.
-Current – The current price per share of your stock.
-Mkt Value – The total value of the shares you own.
-% Change – The percentage you will gain or lose from selling your shares.
-Sell – This is where you are able to enter the amount of shares you would like to sell.
When you have decided what shares you will sell, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Sell Shares”. This button is located directly under the chart.
What stocks should you buy?
Buy low and sell high!!! Generally, I will only buy stock that costs anywhere from 15-17np a share. This is how I minimize my losses. There is usually always a stock in this price range, so it is easy to buy 1000 shares a day, costing 15000-17000 nps.
Some people (who are much braver than me!) will buy stocks that cost much more than 15np when they think a particular stock is on the rise. It is easy to lose a lot of np this way, and I would not suggest this for those new to the stock market.
When should you sell your stocks?
This is debatable and it is really entirely up to you. I usually sell my stocks when they reach about 45np per share. Some people will sell much lower, at 30np per share. There is nothing wrong with this; you have still doubled the money you invested. Still others wait until their stocks have reach 60+ per share. There is a lot of waiting involved, but keep in mind; the stocks will always rise so have patience! I have known people to wait almost a year for their stocks to reach a point where they were happy to sell them. Like I said, your selling point is totally up to you, but NEVER sell at a loss!!
Miscellaneous hints/tips/information
It is possible that your stock may crash, meaning it will drop to 0 and go bankrupt. This does not happen often, but it is something to be aware of.
There is nothing you can do to affect the price of a stock. It is totally random; buying a lot of stock will not change its price.
When considering which stocks to buy, it is always good to aim for as much variation as possible. Meaning if two stocks are priced at 15np per share, but you already have shares in one of them, buy the other. This will increase your chances of making more np quickly. This is much better than having all your money in one stock, which may take a long time to rise.
